3rd June, 2015 will sadly go down in the history of Ghana as ‘Black Wednesday”. On this fateful day, more than 150 people lost their lives in a twin floods and fire disaster that hit the capital of the country, Accra. Many more who survived the disaster with various degrees of temporal and permanent injuries were displaced and deprived completely of their means of livelihood as they lost everything to flood and fire.

As part of efforts to support survivors and relatives of victims bring their lives back into a normal state, management and staff of The Fiesta Royale Hotel & Residences [Serviced Apartments] visited the offices of TV3 network on Friday, the 19th of June, 2015 to make donations of various relief items.

The items donated include; Cartons of Water, Ideal Milk, Tomato Paste, bags of rice and sugar, gallons of cooking oil, and plastic cups.

Speaking to the Head of Legal of TV3 who received the donations on behalf of the Flood Victims at TV3, the General Manager of Fiesta Royale Hotel, Mr. Francois Olivier explained that Fiesta Royale Hotel is a part and member of the Ghanaian society hence this disaster could have befallen anybody at any time. This unfortunate incident therefore places an automatic responsibility on individuals, civil society organizations and corporate institutions to quickly come to the aid of survivors and victims. He assured that there is still hope for the survivors as Fiesta Royale Hotel is perpetually committed to giving back to society and that the current relief support to survivors of the flood disaster will not be a nine-day-wonder.

In her closing remarks, the Human Resource Manager of Fiesta Royale Hotel, Ms Emelia Narh expressed their heart-felt condolences to families of the victims, commended TV3 Network for launching the June 3rd Disaster Fund in support of the victims and stressed that the importance of the media in bringing aid to the suffering masses cannot be over-emphasized.
